When a traditional VPN is no longer enough
A traditional VPN connects a device to your network, then mostly stops checking. It can't tell whether the Mac is managed, up to date, or free of threats. Every app behind it gets the same broad access, whether it holds payroll records or the team wiki. Remote users drop off when a laptop sleeps or changes networks, and the help desk hears "the VPN says connected, but the app won't load." Your security team wants every sign-in checked against who the person is and whether their device is healthy.
How we deploy and manage Jamf ZTNA
Jamf ZTNA runs in Jamf Security Cloud and reaches each device through the Jamf Trust app. Before it allows access to an app, it confirms the person through your identity provider and checks the health of their device. Jamf previously called this Private Access. We plan it, set it up, and manage it after launch, either fully managed or alongside your IT or security lead.

We list the apps your team uses today, in the cloud and on your own servers, and decide who should reach each one and from which devices. We confirm the right Jamf plan, since ZTNA is included in Jamf for Mac and Jamf for Mobile. If an older system still needs the VPN for now, we tell you plainly.

Jamf ZTNA works with Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Google Workspace sign-in. We connect yours so people sign in with the work account they already use.

Each app gets its own rules. Sensitive systems can require a managed device, no active threats, and Jamf Trust turned on. If an app only accepts traffic from known IP addresses, we can plan for Jamf's dedicated internet gateway add-on.

We deploy the Jamf Trust app to Mac, iPhone, and iPad through Jamf Pro or your current device management tool. People sign in with their work account and get to work. Windows and Android devices can be covered too if your fleet is mixed.

We move apps from the VPN to Jamf ZTNA in planned groups and test each group with real users first. If something doesn't work, there's a way back. Your VPN stays on until nothing depends on it.

After setup, we handle new apps, access rule changes, people joining and leaving, and the access reports in Jamf Security Cloud. When someone can't reach an app, the team that set it up answers the ticket.
